For the PDI:
Orcid (Open Researcher & Contributor ID) is a non-profit project that offers a system for the unequivocal identification of the authors of scientific publications, and at the same time a space to register their data and work, and if they wish, share them.
Orcid has become him world single registry of authors, in the manner of Digital Object Identifier (DOI). It will be linked to the researchers' production, making it easier to find out about their publications, identifying collaborators and reviewers and, ultimately, favoring the process of scientific discovery.
Now you can get a Orcid which is expressed as a unique -URL- address that will be connected to other current author identification systems such as Author Resolve, inspire, IRALIS, RePEc, researcherID, Scopus Author Identifier and ALIVE, among others. It is intended that Orcid be the final destination of each of them, integrating information from universities, funding agencies and publishers.
