Entrepreneurship as a career option for ULPGC students

Did you know that 6.4% of the students of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) are planning to create their own company at the end of their university studies?

This figure is very similar to that found in the international average, where 6.6% considers this option. However, the perspective of the student at our university is broadened when asked about his future at five years. Then, the percentage of those who consider establishing their own account increases until almost reaching 35%, exceeding the international average value of 30.7%.

These and other results emerge from a survey carried out on ULPGC students within the framework of the international project Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students' Survey (GUESSS) during the 2013-2014 academic year, whose purpose is the study of entrepreneurial intention and activity. of the college student. At the ULPGC, the project is developed by professors Pino Medina, Rosa M. Batista, Alicia Bolívar and Silvia Sosa, members of the Entrepreneurship, Digital Company and Innovation (EEdI) research team. The project collects information biannually from more than 700 universities in 34 countries.
